"IDF- Star Vision" - Docfest 2019

The Indian Doctors Forum (IDF) Kuwait, the premier sociocultural association of Indian doctors in the state of Kuwait, commemorated the release of the 15th edition of their annually published health guide and held their “DOCFEST 2019–IDF Star Vision” cultural variety show at the Hotel Regency on 8th February 2019. The Chief Guest H.E Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Hon.Minister for Al-Diwan Al-Amiri Affairs was represented by H.E. Mr. Mazen Al- Essa, Undersecretary, Al Diwan Al-Amiri Affairs, H.E. Shri K. Jeevasagar; Ambassador of India to Kuwait was the Guest of Honor.The event was also attended by a galaxy of dignitaries including Ambassador of Romania H.E. Daniel Tanase, Ambassador of South Korea H.E. Hong Youngki, Ambassador of Guyana H.E. Prof. Dr. Shamir Ally and Ambassador of Botswana H.E. Manyepedza P Lesetedi, and Kuwait Medical Association President Dr. Ahmad Thuwaini Al Enezi, Undersecretary Islamic Affairs Mr. Mohammed Al Jalehma, Sheikha Shahrazad AlHamood Al Jaber Al Sabah, Sheikha Al Dussauri, Mr. Noori Al Noori, Mr. Jamal al Noori .Also present were Hospital Directors, KMA office bearers and many senior doctors from Kuwait. It was also graced by the esteemed presence of senior Indian Business persons and Presidents & Secretaries of various associations in Kuwait. Dr. Madhu Gupta Vice President IDF anchored the official program. The evening commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Dr. Syed Mahmood Rahman, followed by the national anthems of Kuwait and India. Dr. Mohan Ram, General Secretary of the IDF, welcomed the assembled dignitaries and guests. .Dr. Surendra Nayak, President of the IDF,welcomed the audience and highlighted the community health promotion activities which are regularly conducted by the IDF to raise awareness among the public about a variety of medical issues. He also briefed them on the activities of the association. He also briefed that Indian Embassy; Kuwait would beorganizing the Medical Tourismexhibition showcasing leading hospitals of India on 17 and 18 March, 2019 together with IDF and IBPC. He also took the opportunity to thank all the well-wishers and sponsors for the continuous support to the organization. The inaugural address was given by Mr. Mazen Al Essa in which he conveyed his congratulations to the IDF and the Indian community at large. Mr. K. Jeevasagar praised the Indian doctor’s dedication and work ethic. Dr. Ahmad Thuwaini Al Enezi highlighted the valuable contributions made by Indian doctors. The health guide was officially introduced by Chief editor Dr. R. Panicker. The current edition, entitled "Allergy & Immunological Disorders ", is comprised of a collection of articles authored by experts in the fields of Allergy, Immunology and other related specialties. The topics are written in simple non-technical language with the general public in mind. The articles provide a valuable insight into their management and the latest advances in the field. The health guide was officially released by Mr. Mazen Al-Essa and the first copy was presented to Mr. K. Jeevasagar. Mementos were presented to the dignitaries by the office bearers - Dr. Surendra Nayak, President , Dr. C. Diwakara & Dr. Madhu Gupta Vice Presidents, Dr. Mohan Ram ,General Secretary , Dr. Rajendra C. Mishra, Treasurer & Dr. Arun Joshi Jt. General Secretary on behalf of IDF. Dr. Diwakar Chaluvaiah, vice-president of the IDF, gave the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to the many dignitaries, well-wishers and sponsors present for their valuable encouragement and support. Sheikha Shahrazad AlHamood Al Jaber Al Sabah, Sheikha Al Dusari,Dr. Saroj Grover,Dr Madhu Gupta Executive Committee Member of the IDF and spouses of office bearers of IDF lit the lamp, signifying the start of the cultural show. The evening festivities began with a visual treat by world renowned Artist Mr. Vilas Nayak, who was specially flown in from India. He did a splendid live painting of H.H. the Amir Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.It was greeted by thunderous standing ovation. He also drew a painting depicting the brotherhood between the two nations by drawing the iconic Taj Mahal and Kuwait towers, a tribute to Hala February celebrations. The cultural program was kicked off by Dr. Antony D’Cruz and Dr. Naquib Inamdar, Cultural Secretary and Joint Cultural Secretary of the IDF, respectively & Dr. Anila Albert. They explained how Door Darshan Television had been an integral part of the early years and this was the theme of the cultural program IDF Star Vision. It was beautifully displayed by views of different channels in Dance & Skit format. Senior members including the past & present office bearer participated and showed their dancing, acting & singing skill to the delight of the august gathering. The performers, composed of IDF members and their families, performed a variety of unique dances& Skits depicting in form of various TV Channels.The finale of the cultural program where all the artist and Office bearers of IDF participated with flags of Kuwait and India depicting the solidarity between these two great nations. The event concluded with a sumptuous Buffet Dinner prepared by the MasterChef’s of Hotel Regency. After the dinner all the guests were gifted with health guide.And a Raffle draws with grand prizes for IDF Members The audience was enthralled by the creative, imaginative, exciting and one of a kind performance. The event was a grand success. Thanks to the hard work of the IDF members and their families.

India Doctors Forum (IDF) organized Ghabqa 2018

India Doctors Forum (IDF) in Kuwait organized Ghabqa 2018 at the Regency Hotel on Wednesday 30th May. IDF has been celebrating this significant social event every year during Ramadan for the past 15-years. This is one of the most important event in the myriad of activities conducted by IDF every year. This year’s Ghabqa was attended by member from the royal family Sheikha Dosairi, the ambassador of South Korea to Kuwait, HE Mr. Hong Young Ki, Dr. Fuad Hasan Ali, Former Dean, Faculty of Medicine at Kuwait University, directors of various government and private hospitals, heads of departments, senior Kuwaiti doctors, officials from the ministry of health and other ministries, Indian and Kuwaiti businessmen, prominent Indian Association leaders and a large number of IDF members and their families. India’s ambassador to Kuwait HE Shri K. Jeeva Sagar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. President of Kuwait Medical Association (KMA) Dr. Ahmed Thuwaini Al Enezi was invited as the Guest of Honour. The event started by singing the national anthems of Kuwait and India, after a brief introduction by the master of ceremony Dr. Arun Joshi, Joint General Secretary of IDF about the beautiful tradition of Ghabqa as part of Ramadan practiced in the Middle East that is unique in the whole world. The event was blessed by a soulful, melodious recitation from the holy Quran by Mohammad Faaiz, a 12-year old student of 8th standard. In his welcome address Dr. Mohan Ram, General Secretary of IDF welcomed the dignitaries and guests. The president of IDF Dr. Surendra Nayak wished everyone a blessed Ramadan. He thanked the Amir, the Crown Prince, the government and the people of Kuwait for their continuous support and encouragement to the Indian Community in Kuwait and to IDF, its activities and members. He also deliberated upon the patronage and guidance received from KMA to whom IDF is affiliated. He briefly explained about the various activities carried out by IDF such as health camps for the needy, health seminars, school health programs, health quiz, publishing of a comprehensive health guide on a specific health issue written in a simple language by experts for the general public every year. A special spiritual Ramadan message was given by Dr. Hasan Khan, who expounded in details the concept of fasting during Ramadan and its unifying presence and importance in all major religions of the world. He also explained about the other important aspect of Ramadan that is charity by giving while living by citing some examples. A most touching message was for everyone to give respect and take care of one’s parents and elderly people. The chief guest HE Shri K Jeeva Sagar spoke eloquently about the role of doctors and how this noble profession beautifully connects with the concept of one of the main tenets of Ramadan i.e. service to the fellow human beings. He also talked about how the profession of medicine and divinity are inexorably connected to each other. The guest of honour Dr. Ahmed Thuwaini Al Enezi expressed his feelings and views about the quality, calibre, and dedication of service by Indian doctors for all the people in Kuwait. He elaborated this point by quoting examples from his own personnel association and experience while working and learning from them, or while seeing them treat people including his own family members. From amongst the many invited guests Dr. Amal Khudr, Consultant Gynecologist at Farwaniya Hospital explained beautifully the significance and the main tenets of Ramadan i.e. charity, service, fasting. Former Vice Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Hussain Dashti (Surgery), spoke very highly of his knowledge and association with India and Indian culture especially the Hindi cinema. A highly interesting and educative quiz based on events, characters, and teachings of Quran related to Ramadan was expertly conducted by Dr. Madhu Gupta, Vice President, IDF. The audience participated enthusiastically. The children of IDF members participated in a fancy dress show of colourful Indian dresses from different regions of India that brought lot of cheer, excitement and joy to everyone. All participating children were given special gifts, prizes and also the Girgian gifts. Dr. Diwakar Chaluviah, vice President of IDF gave the vote of thanks and expressed sincere heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, guest of honour, distinguished Kuwaiti and Indian guests. He pointed out that presence of large numbers of Kuwaiti guests was a testimony to the excellent age old warm relations between the peoples and cultures of Kuwait and India, and the respect, care and support Indian community and all expatriates enjoy in Kuwait. The program ended with a grand buffet dinner.

IDF Interschool Health Quiz 2018

With a power packed performance, Gulf Indian School retained first spot in the IDF Interschool Health Quiz for the third year in succession. Organised by the Indian Doctors Forum, Kuwait, the IDF quiz over the last nine years has evolved into one of the benchmark quizzing events of the region. November 30th 2018 witnessed some high voltage activity at the venue with teams battling it out to win top honours. Twelve teams from various Indian schools in Kuwait attended the preliminary written test and the top six teams were selected for the onstage finals. The finalists were – Jiya Elizabeth Jo and Joel George Moozhil (Carmel Indian School), Christeen Kuriakose and Devaprabha Sivaprasad (United Indian School), Zarah Theresa and Arjun Biju (Indian Learners Own Academy), Lorraine Grace D’Costa and SakinaIdreesFakhruddin (Indian English Academy School), Fida Faisal and Nishel Alexander (India International School) and Fahaad Ahmad and NevinSaluChirayath (Gulf Indian School). The main quiz was preceded by a quiz for the audience conducted by the energetic pair, Dr Naquib Inamdar and Dr Preeti Jolly who entertained the spectators with stimulating questions and fascinating nuggets of information. The main quiz began after the welcome address by the President of the Indian Doctors Forum, Dr SurendraNayak. Dr Nayak spoke about the importance of events like the quiz to disseminate information and stimulate interest in young minds about the medical profession. Drs Sebastian Mathew and Ananthapriya Vaidya were the quizmasters for the main quiz which featured eight thrilling rounds including numerous buzzer rounds, a link round, an activity round and video rounds. Carmel Indian School took an early lead but Gulf Indian School was unstoppable after they warmed up. The buzzer rounds provided an adrenaline rush but the crowd favourite was the activity round which featured different activities for each team.The final round was a tense rapid fire session where each team could answer a maximum of twelve questions in one minute. The quiz masters enlivened the show with their informative quips and humorous asides. The quizmasters were ably assisted by Dr. Kannan Shreeram, Dr. Reji Athyal, Dr Naquib and Mrs. Tessa Sebastian in logistics, research and scoring. The glittering IDF Rolling Trophy was presented to the winning Gulf Indian School team by the President Dr Surendra Nayak amidst loud cheers and applause. The second prize was presented to the Carmel Indian School team by the Vice President Dr Diwakar, the third prize awarded to United Indian School by the Gen Secretary Dr Mohan Ram. The remaining finalists were given consolation prizes by IDF Office Bearers. The program also honoured the children of IDF members who excelled in the Class X and XII examinations of 2017-18. They were given Certificates of Merit and prizes while the MCs Dr Madhu Gupta ( Vice President) and Dr Arun Joshi ( Jt Gen Secretary) detailed the achievements of the students. IDF hopes that programs like this will increase health awareness and inspire youngsters to become medical professionals serving the community.
